Chef Kevin Hohla
“The ingredients in the foods I prepare are all secrets.”
-Kevin Hohla
Kevin Hohla, executive chef at The Boathouse in Lakeville, Connecticut always had a passion for food. On a daily basis Kevin is in the kitchen making sure the freshest foods are being prepared to the highest satisfaction. Kevin was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio by Mr. and Mrs. Hohla. As a child he was always in the kitchen cooking with his mother learning the trades and secrets. Kevin’s mother is his most important mentor; they both still enjoy and live by their philosophy of food and dining “that you must try everything once.”
Before the Boathouse Hohla worked in California at Seafood Peddler with his mentor Kambozo Salehi. Mr. Salehi taught Kevin everything from running the restaurant to cost-control and continues to be Kevin’s lifetime mentor. Hohla’s food tends to defy the trends, but captures the unique and adventurous flair of cooking, while still maintaining flavorful and artistically presented food. Hohla’s favorite ingredients to work with are their very own farm ingredient, which includes goat cheese, fresh vegetables, and fruits. The American Bistro style is captured with his finest seasonal ingredients and excellent quality. “At the Boathouse we strive to bring the freshest ingredients and affordability to our customers at every visit.” —Boathouse Staff
Our History
In 2003, Peter Stefanopoulos found the Boathouse as the answer to his quest for an exquisite fine dining establishment. As a successful restaurant owner, Peter had spent his career creating the Four Brothers Pizza Inn. He used his restaurant experience to strengthen the Boathouse establishment and further enhance the local gem that everyone had grown to love.
For years, the Boathouse has been a thriving establishment in Lakeville, Connecticut offering a special culinary experience to locals in town, as well as serving people from far and wide. It also quickly cemented its popularity amongst boarding school students by offering a warm and comforting environment for families to reconnect over a delicious meal. Accordingly, the Boathouse has paid homage to the local schools by creating and naming specialty sushi roles for each. The supplemental extensive sushi menu compliments their main menu, which offers a variety of classic American dishes, seafood and more.
